Quick Sugar Glider Updates

It has been a LONG time since our last post. A lot has happened since then. We have been very busy adding new content to our website, new products to our store, working on a few secret projects that we hope to reveal soon, and expanding our breeding program just a tiny bit.

To start, we have added a LOT of new products to our sugar glider store. Just to name a few, we are excited to now be offering Stealth Wheels, insects, joey rejection/hand-feeding supplies, yogurt drops, papaya & blueberry treats, and Happy Glider food. Come and take a look:

We have added a beautiful trio of sugar gliders to our family and our breeding program. We have a gorgeous platinum-colored white mosaic boy named Squall and two WFB females named Taji & Takara. Taji has had one joey already, who just recently went to his new home. She appears to have one or two more on the way again and Takara may have joeys in pouch as well. We’re really excited to see what color patterns their babies might have.

We recently added some great information about the different sugar glider pellet foods that are available on the market. This information will give you a good starting point for comparing ingredients and nutritional analysis of the different sugar glider dry foods. The Babies are Here!

The joeys are here! We have two male 66% leu het joeys again (it’s like deja vu from the last litter). They’re very cute. They came out of pouch on March 3rd and had their eyes open on the 10th. We’re trying to hold them daily to get them used to being handled, so they’ll be nice and tame for their new parents. They will be available on or around April 28th. We’ll post some pictures soon.

On another note – Arren’s working hard on getting our new shopping cart installed & running. We are planning to have some nice products available on our website very soon.

Yay, We Saw a Joey in Pouch!

We finally got to see one of Rikku’s joeys last night. We were so excited when we saw a little black tail poking out of the pouch last night. We thought for sure we’d be seeing tails a week or more ago. It seems like whenever we see Rikku though, she’s got the babies stuffed in there pretty good. Anyway, we were so excited about that one little tail, that you can imagine our surprise when we got a peek inside her pouch and saw a joey! Before it happened, we could see the babies moving around like crazy under her belly & she kept going to the side of the cage to hide & re-adjust them. I finally pulled back our cage cover & got a really good view of the backside of a little grey joey. Then Rikku came out to the front of the cage & had her pouch still pretty open & was kind of grooming & adjusting the babies & we got a few really good pictures. Judging by the size of this little guy (or girl), it shouldn’t be long before those babies are out of pouch. I thought for a brief instant that I might have seen a little white baby in there too, but that may have just been wishful thinking. With the grey baby still being so light, it’s entirely possible that what I saw was another grey baby or a baby tummy. Here’s a fun picture we call “Rikku Smash” because she looks like The Hulk ready to bust out of jail…haha:

Still No Tails!

Our female, Rikku, is getting HUGE! We keep expecting to see tails poking out of her pouch, but she’s doing a good job of keeping the joeys stuffed in there. It’s like she’s actually trying to torture us! We can’t wait to see them. I think it’ll be really soon.

I worked on the Sweet-Sugar-Gliders.com site today, adding more content. I added some more diet recipes, cage information, and a list of sugar glider safe fruits and vegetables. There will be more cage and diet information coming soon. I am hoping to post some instructions soon on how to build a cage, including pictures of the cage that my husband recently built.

On a fun note, we have two sugar glider joeys on the way! We are so excited to see what they look like. Our gliders are leucistic hets, so we are curious to see if/when we might get a leu baby. When we do, I think we’ll have a big dilemma as to whether to keep the leu or find it another good home. Stay tuned for more on that. We expect to see the joeys out of pouch in a few weeks.

New Diet Videos

So far our new website has mostly diet information. Yesterday I added a few video tutorials. One video was about how to make the HPW diet. The other video was a walkthrough of our general nightly routine with feeding our gliders. Tonight I’m going to work on adding some information about sugar glider cages. By the time I’m done, I’d like to have information on cage requirements of sugar gliders, instructions on how to make a cage, and where to buy a cage (possibly with reviews). Click the “Home” button at the top & navigate through the links on the left to view our sugar glider information.

Welcome to Our New Website!!!

Our brand new www.sweet-sugar-gliders.com website is coming along well. We just started working on the site about 3 weeks ago and we’re already starting to notice that some people are finding us through Google searches. This is very encouraging to us and rest assured that we are working hard to be constantly providing new content. We started out focusing on diet information, so that is the majority of what you’ll find on our site as of today. Our goal is to quickly become your ultimate resource for information on sugar gliders. We want to educate people about everything there is to know about pet sugar gliders.
